Waldorf Astoria Bangkok’s Executive Chef Alessandro Santi possesses over 30 years of experience in the culinary arts. Having qualified from the Istituto Alberghiero di Stato Santa Marta Pesaro in his native Italy, he served his apprenticeship as a Junior Chef, Chef de Partie and Sous Chef in top hotel and independent restaurant kitchens in Europe, Australia and United States. These experiences include Lo Scudiero, a one Michelin-star restaurant in his hometown of Pesaro, the two Michelin-starred Grand Hotel Royal E Golf at Courmayeur, and a stint under Michelin-starred Chef Alfio Fascendini at Europe restaurant. Chef Alessandro first came to Asia in 2006 as Executive Chef of the Sandoway Resort, Ngapali Beach, Myanmar. In June 2017, He joins Waldorf Astoria Bangkok’s pre-opening team from the 333-room Grand Hyatt Shenyang where he was Executive Chef in charge of the entire culinary division. This comprised oversight for 160 chefs working in seven outlets ranging from international all day dining and specialist Chinese and Italian restaurants to coffee shop and patisserie operations. Prior to joining Hyatt Group in 2011, Chef Alessandro spent a number of years with Rosso Italian restaurant at Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, voted the city’s best Italian restaurant in 2009 and 2010.
