Chef Cares Dream Academy
hef Cares Dream Academy gives a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to juvenile delinquents and underprivileged youths (aged between 18-24) to realize their dream of becoming professional chefs. The program includes comprehensive career training courses, close psychological mentorship, Michelin starred work placement, and other knowledge management inputs that are needed for the “Dreamers” to hone their skills, refine their knowledge and grow confidence in the hospitality industry.
To create Dream Academy, Chef Cares works closely with Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Social Development and Human Security for recruitment. We also would like to express our thanks to partners who contributes to the development of the program as well as participating restaurants in our Michelin starred work placement program.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Chef Cares Foundation and CPALL offer 12 chef training scholarships to juvenile delinquents and underprivileged youths under Dream Academy program to help realize their dream of becoming professional chefs.
The training lasts for the entirety of 9 months and is divided into 2 phases.
Phase 1: Cooking Training
3 Months
Dreamers are given comprehensive training at PIM Food Academy, which includes Thai cuisine, international cuisine and pastry. During this period, Dreamers will also join extracurricular programs, such as field trips to organic farms, wholesale markets, food manufacturing factories and hotels, so they can develop a fuller view of hospitality industries.
Phase 2: Work Placement
6 Months
Dreams will have the opportunity to choose restaurants for work placement. They will be working closely with the chefs and the cuisines of their choices, ranging from contemporary Thai, to innovative Indian, to classic French. The work placement program also ensures that Dreamers will be equipped with the knowledge of station and kitchen management, as well as giving them team building experience in a world-class environment.
During 9-month training, Dreamers will also attend Appreciative Living and People Solutions sessions with leading psychologist Dr Pongrapee Buranasompob and learns English from Boost Voice program.
Apart from scholarships, Chef Cares also gives allowance and provides 360 degree financial support to Dreamers.
